The Pooch Parlor is a place for pets and their people that want a clean, professional and family environment for grooming.
We offer many services.
Most importantly, you will find that every groomer here has gone through a rigorous training program to attain their certification at the state level.
The training includes more than instruction about the technical aspects of grooming and scissoring, it includes strict codes of conduct and tight guidelines for ethical treatments of pets and their owners, safety practices, and cleaning standards.

Groomer Academy

The Pooch Parlor Pet Groomer Academy is located in Ponderay, ID, has 7 grooming stations, four tubs, and two drying rooms.
The volume of dogs varies with the season.
This shop takes in 6 - 30 dogs a day.
Summers are extremely busy.
Fall and winter are steady.
Hours are 8:30-3 Mon-Sat.
All tuitions, supplies and boarding costs are tax deductible.
Level I - Basic Pet Grooming Course is fast paced and geared toward learning the basics of pet grooming for the purpose of becoming employed as a groomer.

The Pooch Parlor groomers and staff highly recommend this one-on-one training for any individual that is interested in keeping up on grooming their dog in between professional groomings.
This course is just as great for those individuals desiring to do their own at-home grooming.
Customers that are interested in learning how to groom their own dog at home is commonly asked for at the Pooch Parlor.
During this hour, the major steps of grooming and individual breed requirements are gone over.
The typical hour consists of the owner and groomer assessing the grooming needs of the dog.
This course is just as great for those individuals desiring to do their own at-home grooming.

Self Service

Self service is offered at our shop.
All pets must be leashed and under the control of the owner at all times.
No exceptions.
Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in the bathing area.
Customers interested in self-service are supplied with a noose to restrain their dog in the tub, shampoo, and conditioner by request, and any required brushes or combs.
Nail trimming is available by a professional upon request before the bath.
The fee for nail trimming ranges from $5-$15.
There are dryers next to each tub, and the entire process of bathing, brushing, nail trimming and drying are done in the tub.
